Adding to uncertainty, the Arab mediators and the United States fought to fill the gaps between Hamas and Israel, to restore the ceasefire and to cause exchanges of hostages with the Palestinian prisoners.
During the war, the Palestinians have endured a marathon of hope and crack since the mediators expressed optimism on the interviews only for an agreement to remain elusive or fall completely.
Thursday, President Trump suggested that a new agreement could be on the occasion. “We are approaching them to bring them back,” Trump told journalists in a meeting of his cabinet, referring to the hostages.
The president did not offer specific details and representatives for Hamas and the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel did not immediately return requests for comments.
